An ideal way to spend the day is to visit Puerto Angelito Beach. This stunning beach is located close to the center of Puerto Escondido and is an excellent spot for swimming, snorkelling, and relaxing. From here, you can also take a boat tour to experience some of the fantastic wildlife in the area.

Be sure to Stop By Bahia Principal. Bahia Principal is one of Puerto Escondido’s most popular beaches—so don’t miss out on soaking up some sun here! Plus, there are plenty of restaurants with amazing views where you can grab lunch after your beach day.

Puerto Escondido is renowned for its culinary delights. Be sure to try local favourites such as ceviche, aguachile, tacos al pastor or pozole made with locally caught seafood or fresh produce from nearby markets – delish! From fresh seafood to traditional Mexican dishes, there’s something to tantalize all taste buds.

Is there anything better after a great meal than a cup of coffee? Take a tour of a coffee plantation. Oaxaca is one of Mexico’s central coffee-producing regions, so take advantage of it. Go on a tour of a local coffee plantation! You’ll learn about the process of growing and harvesting coffee and getting to taste some fresh-brewed coffee at the end.

In the mood for something a little more substantial? Visit a mezcalería. Mezcal is a Mexican liquor made from agave plants, and Oaxaca is one of its primary producers. Stop by a mezcalería to learn about this traditional drink, and don’t forget to try out some different flavours, don’t be surprised if you see a scorpion in the bottle!!

La Punta Surf Spot offers some incredible waves for experienced surfers looking for an adrenaline rush! However, it’s worth checking out even if you don’t plan on surfing – watching others catch waves here is an experience! 

If being crushed by a massive wave does not sound appealing, try stand-up paddleboarding instead! This popular activity is perfect for those who want to get out on the water without committing to a board and wetsuit rental. Plus, it’s great exercise! 

Fishing is one of the most popular activities in Puerto Escondido, and there are plenty of spots where you can rent equipment and go out on a boat for an afternoon of fishing fun! 

Love the ocean but are not crazy about fishing? Then, go on a boat tour. Many boat tours in Puerto Escondido will take you around the bay and show you all the best sights. For example, take a boat ride to Isla de la Roqueta, and you may see dolphins and whales. In addition, the waters around Puerto Escondido are teeming with marine life, an ideal place to snorkel or scuba dive. So be sure to check out the underwater world while you’re here. 

The Best Adventures and Sunsets

Explore Laguna de Manialtepec. This stunning lagoon is home to many species of birds, fish and other wildlife you can observe on a boat tour or paddle board excursion.

The reward at the end is a beautiful white sand beach with crystal-clear water, perfect for swimming and snorkelling.

Are you feeling like Indian Jones? Then the majestic Petatlán caves or visit the Aztec ruins at Cuicuilco may be just the solution for your adventurous appetite. Perhaps zip-lining or horseback riding through the jungle is something that you have always dreamed of doing.
