On the sea

You can rent a boat for sport fishing or personal excursions. You can purchase a ticket for one of the more extensive excursions. We secured passage on a vessel named La Tequila. as the name would imply, it was a party boat seated about 200 passengers. Be prepared for an all-day excursion. We had a great time. I want to highlight a couple of items we found while aboard.

If you were intending on going snorkelling, they insisted that you rent a life jacket regardless of how well you swim. When asked, they said it was for insurance purposes…Perhaps. We were also led to believe that there would be drinks on board- there were, but you had to purchase them. We were also told that lunch would be included-it was. Unfortunately, you were held for “lunch ransom on one of the beautiful bays.” There was a two-hour lunch break, with nowhere to go, just the multitude of restaurants that dotted the shoreline.

The tour was more expensive than most. Therefore, this should be included. However, it did not sour our day. However, I pass this critical information on to my readers should they consider this tour.

Huatulco Nature Reserve

Huatulco Nature Reserve is a protected area of the Mexican Pacific Coast in Oaxaca. It is an ecological treasure that offers visitors a chance to explore this region’s diverse natural habitats and ecosystems.

Huatulco Nature Reserve is located on the coast of southern Mexico, about 200 kilometres north of Puerto Escondido. The reserve is home to more than 1,000 species of plants and animals, including more than 350 species of birds.

The Huatulco Nature Reserve was created by presidential decree in 1979, with an area of 124 square kilometres. The reserve was designed to protect critical coastal habitats such as mangroves and sandy beaches and marine resources such as coral reefs and seagrass beds.

Sustainable tourism destination

Sustainable tourism is a concept that has been around for a while. It is defined as tourism that minimizes or eliminates the negative impacts on the environment, society, and culture.

As a result of climate change, many destinations are being affected by rising sea levels and natural disasters. So, how can sustainable tourism be achieved in these areas?

Tourism is one of the most powerful economic drivers and a significant revenue source for many developing countries. However, the increase in tourism has also led to a rise in negative impacts on the environment and communities.

Where to Eat in Bahias de Huatulco

The Huatulco region is a popular tourist destination for many people. You can choose from many different hotels, resorts and restaurants. The following is a short list of some of the best places to stay and eat in Bahias de Huatulco.

Restaurant Mercader: This restaurant serves some of the best Thai food I have tasted. The Green curry was outstanding with its many layers of flavour. The house dessert special is Lava Cake- a decadent flotilla of oozing chocolate. Remember to order this with the rest of your meal, as they are individually created for each guest. Remember to arrive hungry.

Restaurant Terra Cotta: Located in Santa Cruz La Crucecita, this is an excellent restaurant for an upscale lunch or dinner. The enchiladas were large for lunch. Yet it was so delicious I could not help but finish mine. I might have ordered another if I wanted to shuffle through the street back to our hotel.

Restaurant Oro Negro: This is a restaurant that I did not expect to find. A pizza restaurant with a wood stoked oven. Sitting out of doors enjoying an amazing thin-crust pizza under a starry night brought back memories of Italy. This was the best pizza I have had since I was in Montebello, Quebec.

Restaurant El Trópico: This restaurant offers authentic Mexican dishes with fresh ingredients from local vendors. They have a wide variety of seafood dishes and vegetarian options.

For those that enjoy the authentic tastes of Mexico, nothing is more inviting than the myriad of independent vendors that can make you virtually anything. You can find them in any square, beach and often off to the side of the road.

Where to stay in Bahias de Huatulco

Hotel La Hacienda: This hotel has an all-inclusive package that includes food, drinks and activities. It is located in the center of the town and has a beautiful garden with many plants.

Hotel Playa Hermosa: This hotel offers an all-inclusive package with food, drinks and activities included for guests. It is located on the beachfront with views of the ocean.

I love staying at Hotel Castillo Huatulco Hotel & Beach Club because it’s conveniently near many restaurants and within a short walk to Santa Cruz bay. Hotel Castillo Huatulco Hotel & Beach Club It’s a great place for families or couples who want to immerse themselves in the local culture. Here you will find few international tourists, a great place to work on your Spanish language skills with an accommodating staff.

The Beachclub is located at Chahue beach, and there is a shuttle bus to and from that will take about 10 mins ride. The food at the beach club is delicious, and the staff is very accommodating. This is included in your inclusive experience. The beach here is beautiful. However, the water does have a rip tide at certain times during the day. Weaker swimmers, be cautious. The lifeguards on duty are strong swimmers and very professional. Please keep an eye on your children. As a moderately strong swimmer, I did not find any hazards with swimming in this area.

If this type of holiday seems appealing, I recommend staying at the Hotel Castillo Huatulco Hotel & Beach Club.
