Music While you travel the best play list

Bags are packed.

Music is loaded up on the phone, heads phones poised for that first “play” motion…But what to listen too? Hmm. Too much of this is dependent on your musical tastes and styles. Me, I like some loud furious music as I get into my car, cab, limo, subway. This gets me pumped for my upcoming journey. Adrenaline is flowing and I am ready for adventure. Unfortunately travel and transportation in the 21st century cant always be fun and games.

Airport time

Here I like to have a more laid back musical feeling, not a dirge, and not Philip Glass either. No Enya, if anyone over hears that I am going straight into security and no one wants that. Besides you want to save your Enya when you are trying to get to sleep three hours later when you are seated at 8000 feet. Just something to help manage your enthusiasm. Airports like border crossing make you feel kind of weird anyways. I am sure the most pious person in the world are thinking…Man I hope I left my hash pipe at home, hold  on I don’t smoke. I don’t know why but It just seems that way. It could be that drug sniffing dog all over my bag.

Well seated

listening music

Beautiful young woman in a sunglasses and headphones listening music near the wall

The lounge is behind you, the PA has announced your loading call. “did they say 25?” you ask the person next to you because your “Foo Fighters” was too loud. It is you, tunes lower, boarding pass in hand, and happy smile. Aww the comfort of economy. You think as always I should have managed more money for the plus service. After all , no worries you take your seat and wonder how you will survive this 7 hour flight with the guy that isn’t wearing shoes on one side of you and a six year old on the other. Aww some Tom Petty. Yes, the headphones on.

Four hours in

The guy in sandals has fallen asleep. The child, well you feel like you would like to give his parents a good thrashing – they are sleeping behind you. You ask yourself, the Movie or Pink Floyds “The Wall? having seen that Rock film, The Wall it is. Another cocktail and you start to reenjoy the flight, although cramped, its only three more hours. The fellow in the sandals wakes violently and knocks you out of you prog rock bliss. You can feel the continent the destination is enviable. Time to find the next playlists major artist. Thinking of home you place the  only “Men without hats” song you have, it plays for about 30 seconds, and you think enough of that. I am heading out for an adventure. Pumping yourself up in anticipation of the inevitable landing, a little “Motorhead” yeah that should do it. Air guitar in hand you are asked to turned it down and buckle up as you approach for a landing.

Disembark

The plane hits the ground like a rock being thrown from a tall building, all go your still breathing. Lemmy is no longer the music of choice. Customs forms, the fight over the over head, the guy with the sandals asking for a pen. A little light Jazz goes well now. Complicated enough to keep you in the game, but distracting enough so that you do not notice chaos that is about to occur as you disembark.

Down the gang plank

With customs sheet in hand. you march dutifully to your luggage. So much Black luggage. Round and round it goes. Time for some Enya. Customs ahead, need to mellow, its all good. Yes, No, Yes, No, NO, Yes. Finally arriving at my destination. Looking for my transpiration into the city. “Red Hot Chilli Peppers” on the buds. Aww its time to have some fun.

There is no perfect sound scape for your journey. That  is up to you. It is best not to have the music too loud when you are approaching a government official. Even they don’t like to be yelled at. But if you feel like a cavity search, hey, rock on.

If you would like to add a favorite genre when you travel, we would all love to hear it. “Its your vacation its your escape.” Enjoy.
